Stewardship Ministry Team
- Plan and develop, and administer programs to inculcate the practice of stewardship in all members of the congregation
- Act as clearing house for all fund raisers in the congregation
- Order and distribute offering envelopes and other stewardship materials
- Lead by example
- Order and distribute offering envelopes
- Make budge recommendation for stewardship funds
- Report quarterly to the Council and annually to the Congregation
Council
- Provide mutual and moral support to the Pastor in the performance of ministry
- Provide additional support to other staff hired by the congregation
- Be the “ears” and “eyes” of the congregation in helping resolve conflict and issues affecting staff members including the Pastor
- Assist the Pastor in evaluating goals for continuing education
Publicity/ Pr Ministry Team
- Oversee communication within the congregation especially the monthly Newsletter “AKASANOMA” The Talking Bird. And other internal releases
- Oversee external communication for the purposes of publicizing the congregation, its activities and programs
- Create Web site for the congregation and monitor or update information that promotes the congregation’s ministry and mission
Worship Ministry Team
- Plan with Pastor for regular Sunday Worship Service and other special worship services and/or programs
- Recruit, train and schedule Acolytes, Lectors, Assist Ministers, Ushers and the Altar Guild
- Make inventory of communion wine, wafers, vessels, robes, linens, paraments, etc., and arrange to have them cleaned or replenished as required
- Confer with Pastor and Minister and Music on types of worship settings, hymns and prayers required by congregants and/or the appropriateness of selections when necessary
- Recommend new staff to the Council
- Make budget recommendation for worship and music needs
- Report quarterly to the Council and annually to the Congregation
Financial Management Team
- Receive and record all financial income
- Maintain the church’s accounts and investments with Financial Institutions including bequests and capital funds
- Disburse funds as needed to meet the church’s financial obligations
- Make quarterly deposits of employee(s) taxes to appropriate State/Federal agencies
- In consultation with staff support ministry team, review staff salaries and make recommendations
- Prepare and distribute quarterly statements of “giving” to members of the congregation
- Prepare the annual budget
- Report quarterly to the Council and annually to the Congregation
Education Ministry Team
Plan and Administer:
- Sunday Church School
- Confirmation Classes
- Vacation Bible School and Summer Programs
- Adult Bible Classes
- Youth Ministry Programs
- Small Group Ministry o Work with Pastor to supervise interns and vicars involved in educational fieldwork
o Plan long-range Educational Programs for congregation
o Choose curricula with the approval of the Pastor
o Recruit and train, support and evaluate teachers for various programs
o Establish plans to recruit new Sunday School Students and other participants
o Assist the Pastor in Catechetical Ministries
o Make an inventory of materials and order as needed
o Make budget recommendations for Christian Education Funds
o Report quarterly to the Council and annually to the Congregation
Property Management Team
- Recruit members from the congregation as needed
- Ensure that the church building(s) and yard are properly maintained
- Keep the main sanctuary and fellowship hall clean
- Keep walkways and parking shoveled
- Keep the grass and shrubberies trimmed
- Provide for periodical painting
- Have necessary repairs made as soon as possible
- Install and remove fan/air conditioners as needed
- Monitor thermostat setting
- Make inventory and order janitorial supplies and maintenance equipment
- Handle issues related to property vis a vis individuals, financial and/or other church institutions as well as the government
- Make budget recommendation for maintenance and replacement funds
- Report quarterly to the Council and annually to the Congregation
Long Range Ministry Planning Team
- Recruit members from the congregation
- Provide long-range goals and priorities in accordance with congregation mission statement
- Evaluate and modify congregation’s activities congruent with its stated mission goals as and when necessary
- Make budget recommendations for Team funds
- Report quarterly to the Council and annually to the Congregation
Evangelism Ministry Team
- Plan and initiate activities designed to invite potential members to the Church
- Take a lead in engaging congregational members in making visitors and new-comers feel welcome and and as part of the Church
- Recruit and train members of the congregation for outreach and hospitality ministries
- Monitor the guest registers, telephone visitors and inform the Pastor of potential members
- Establish contacts with members who have lapsed from active membership and inform the Pastor
- Enlist the help of congregational members in attempting to restore lapsed members to an active role in the congregation
- Maintain contact with college students 3 or 4 times a year
- Work with the Church office in keeping telephone members (grapevine) up-to-date
- Publicize (mailings, leaflets, handouts) congregational workshop schedule, events and activities
- Make budget recommendations for evangelism activities
- Report quarterly to the Council and annually to the Congregation
